About the Recipe
Barfi is a classic Indian fudge-like sweet made from milk solids (khoa or condensed milk), sugar, and flavourings. Its texture ranges from creamy to slightly chewy, depending on the type and preparation. Among the most beloved barfis are:

Ingredients
2 cups full-fat milk
1 cup grated fresh coconut
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder (optional)
Chopped nuts for garnishing (optional)
Preparation

Step 1: Prepare the Mixture
In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat the ghee over medium flame.
Add the full cream milk and bring it to a boil.
Once the milk starts boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
Step 2: Add Coconut and Sugar
Add the grated coconut and sugar to the milk mixture, stirring continuously.
Cook for another 10-15 minutes, or until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan.
Step 3: Incorporate Cocoa Powder
Stir in the cocoa powder and cardamom powder, mixing well until fully combined.
Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes, ensuring the mixture is thick and fudgy.
Step 4: Setting the Barfi
Grease a flat plate or tray with a little ghee.
Pour the mixture onto the greased tray and spread it evenly using a spatula.
Sprinkle chopped nuts on top, if desired.
Step 5: Cooling and Cutting
Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature for a few hours until it sets.
Once set, cut into desired shapes (squares or diamonds).
